Description

Built in 1865, Shoreditch Town Hall was one of the grandest vestry halls in the city. Inside this historic building now lies one of London’s most innovative restaurants; The Clove Club. Chef Patron Isaac McHale first came to prominence in London on the success of his pop-up ventures, as one half of ‘The Young Turks’ partnership. Since opening The Clove Club in mid-2013, however, McHale has carved out a reputation as a leading young chef on the global dining scene.

When glancing over McHale’s culinary C.V. it becomes clear that he was destined for great things. The chef learned his craft in the kitchens of famed restaurants including Noma, Marque, The Ledbury and Restaurant Tom Aikens. Formed around interesting and often forgotten British products – especially those from McHale’s native Scotland – the menu is an interesting blend of local ingredients and international technique.

With the help of his two partners, Daniel Willis and Johnny Smith, The Clove Club exudes a relaxed atmosphere, befitting the playful style of food. There is an intentional juxtaposition between the old-world opulent setting of the Town Hall and this more relaxed, modern way of dining.

The Clove Club sets itself apart from the crowd with a bold and innovative take on fine dining. Expect small dishes with big flavours such as “Flamed Cornish Mackerel, Rhubarb & Toasted Oats” or “Amalfi Lemonade & Sarawak Pepper”; the purest expression of McHale’s eclectic style.
