Description

"He was a wise man who invented beer," argues Plato. In the last five years a shift has occurred in the food pairing world; beer is now welcomed in a place once only reserved for wine. The world’s greatest chefs have remarked on beer’s flavour-matching prowess, even admitting that beer is often more food-friendly than wine. Beer makers are able to experiment with various types of barley, hops, yeast, spices, nuts and fruits of all kind, allowing for wide variances in flavour.

A born and bred Londoner, Alyn Williams’ has worked under big names including Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing, before launching his own restaurant in 2011. His Westbury Hotel restaurant was an instant hit. He received a Michelin star in 2012, four AA Rosettes and the coveted National Chef of the Year Award from the Craft Guild of Chefs.

Located in the luxurious Mayfair postcode, the landmark Westbury Hotel is modern and sleek with a new-age London feel. Alyn William’s elegant dining room is timeless, and branded a “temple of gastronomy" by The Guardian critic, John Lancaster.

The food is subtle yet powerful. The menu has a traditional London influence on European cuisine, with dishes such as Foie gras semi freddo with Medjool date, yoghurt, and brazil nuts.

Alyn himself is fond of a beer pairing, recognising the beverage's versatility, and his restaurant is one of only a handful of in London that matches its food with beer.

Alyn Williams team does take great pride as well in selecting wines to match with cuisine. For those who enjoy a different taste, choose to swap beers for wines with your tasting menu.

I am not sure how to do justice to this restaurant with mere words. The Staff were very kind, friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat.
