Based on its little brother, the R22, the R44 is a four-seater, single-engine training helicopter, and is an absolute joy to fly. With space for 4 this helicopter is smooth and fast, and has consequently become the world’s most popular helicopter.

Find out what makes the Robinson R44 the first choice for pilots around the world with this trial lesson. Tuition will be divided equally between the aircraft and the classroom. Your time will begin with a 40-minute pre-flight safety briefing with an experienced helicopter pilot. Learn about the principles of flight, as well as how the helicopter is controlled.

A member of staff will escort you to the helicopter for a photo opportunity, where you will meet your instructor and board the helicopter. After the final checks, take off and experience the thrill. On clear days you will be spoilt with a beautiful view of the London skyline. After familiarizing yourself with the sensation of the flight, your instructor will hand over the controls. Enjoy real freedom as you fly the helicopter yourself. The lesson concludes with a hover challenge where guests will try to maintain the R44 in a well-controlled hover for as long as possible.

Once landed you will be escorted back to the Flying School where you will receive a certificate of achievement and have the opportunity to purchase your photos or DVD footage from your flight.

For safety reasons, guests must be able to speak and understand English.

Due to health and safety reasons, guests are required to be able to get in and out of the helicopter unaided.

Height, age and weight restrictions apply; guests are expected to be in reasonable health and agile enough to get in and out of the helicopter unaided. You should not take part if you suffer from epilepsy, vertigo or if you are pregnant.

Maximum weight limit per person is 20 stone (127kg).

Minimum pilot height is 4’ 6” and maximum is 7″ or 213cm.

Minimum pilot age is 10 years (adult supervision required for under 16s on airfield premises).
