Guimbal Cabri G2 Trial Lesson with Elstree Helicopters

In the tranquil setting of Hertfordshire countryside, moments away from the iconic London skyline, Elstree Helicopters offers an ideal training location. If you want to see London skyline from 1,000 feet up, take the controls and fly, this is the adventure for you. The Cabri G2 lesson gives you a real taste of what it's like to be a helicopter pilot, and tuition is divided between the aircraft and the classroom. This experience begins with a briefing, where we will ensure you fully understand the basic aircraft safety checks, procedures plus necessary ground and airborne emergency drills. You will then be taken through the protocol for the dual controls of the helicopter. As we don’t have the luxury of auto-pilot it must be clear who has control at all times. You will also be informed of the Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and during your flight you will have the opportunity to assist your instructor in spotting other aircraft during your flight, just like a real co-pilot.

A member of ground staff will escort you to the Cabri G2 for a photo opportunity, where you will meet your instructor and take your seat in the helicopter. After the final checks, you will experience the thrilling feeling of a vertical take-off and the sense of freedom as you see the expanding landscape with a 360˚ viewpoint. Assist your instructor in spotting other aircrafts during flight, just like a real co-pilot. Your instructor will decide when you are ready to take the controls and fly the aircraft!

Once landed you will be escorted back to the Flying School where you will be congratulated with a certificate of achievement and have the opportunity to purchase your photos or personalised in-flight footage of your lesson - a great keepsake to share the experience with family and friends. Optionally, if you wish to extend your time in the aircraft, you can upgrade your experience for a supplement.

For safety reasons, guests must be able to speak and understand English.

Due to health and safety reasons, guests are required to be able to get in and out of the helicopter unaided.

Height, age and weight restrictions apply; guests are expected to be in reasonable health and agile enough to get in and out of the helicopter unaided. You should not take part if you suffer from epilepsy, vertigo or if you are pregnant.

Maximum weight limit per person is 20 stone (127kg).

Minimum pilot height is 4’ 6” and maximum is 7″ or 213cm.

Minimum pilot age is 10 years (adult supervision required for under 16s on airfield premises).
