Description
Enjoy the thrill of the wind in your hair as you take to the scenic country roads of the south-east of England for this UK Harley tour gift for two, with luxury stays in Brighton and Canterbury and fine dining.
Famed the world over, nothing compares to the sensations felt when in control of a Harley Davidson. Taste the incomparable experience of the open road aboard one of the world's most powerful motorbikes, the Heritage Softail Classic, blazing from the past with original dresser spirit and modern touring capabilities. With torque @ rpm of 95 at 3000, the stunning bike packs a punch.
The motorcycle was designed with versatility in mind and comes with a convertible two-up seat, a removable windshield and a tall handlebar that offers a commanding riding position. The classy cruiser offers first class ergonomics, a smooth riding experience and a strong engine, ensuring it is considered by many as best in class. Itinerary: Day One Head over to the prestigious Warrs dealership in the morning, still located on the same King's Road site where it was first founded in 1926. Here you will pick up your monumental Harley, suitable for driver and pillion. An upgrade is also available for guests who wish to rent a Harley each.
After collecting your bike, you will head along the King's Road, through Chelsea and Belgravia, towards Westminster. Admire the striking sights of Big Ben and The Houses of Parliament, before you cross the mighty Thames and begin your journey to the south coast on this UK Harley driving tour.
Pass by Purley's Battle of Britain memorial, and continue along the scenic A23 as you come to meet the picturesque countryside of Sussex. Take a detour through the stunning chalk hills of South Downs. Here you can stop next to the imposing local giant, Ditchling Beacon. You may attempt to climb the 814 foot hill, or simply admire its might. Having re-embarked on your journey, look out for the Hickstead Racecourse before you arrive in the charming seaside city of Brighton.
Upon arrival in Brighton, check in to the luxury hotel that will be your home for the next day. While in the city you may wish to visit Brighton's most famous landmark, the Royal Pavilion. Built in 1787 by the famously extravagant George, Prince of Wales, the pavilion exhibits exquisite Indo-Saracenic style and some of the most delightful chinoiserie interiors in the British Isles. Other highlights include the zigzagging, narrow cobbled alleyways that make up The Lanes, the Brighton Wheel and the famous Brighton Pier.
Having enjoyed the sights, take a stroll to the seafront - where a stunning three-course gourmet dinner awaits at the city's premier two-AA-rosette restaurant. After a welcome glass of Prosecco, indulge in full-flavoured food made from the freshest, highest quality seasonal produce.
Day Two Take the beautiful sea-view road from Brighton to Beachy Head, the incredible chalk headland cliff, pausing to admire the magnificent views at one of Britain's finest coastal spots. Back on your Harley, glide through Eastbourne's charming old town, before heading onto some of the prettiest country roads Britain has to offer, venturing into the Garden of England, Kent.
Amidst the glorious pastoral landscape sits Biddenden Vineyards. If desired, you can enjoy private wine tasting to enjoy the notes of wine which has gained the prestigious honour of being used in Raymond Blanc's Manoir au Quat'Saisons. In season, you can also take a tour around Kent's oldest vineyard. Having tasted some of Britain's finest wine, head to a charming Kent village for award-winning lunch. The characterful restaurant serves inventive flavours with the occasional playful touch.
The rustic beauty of Kent’s countryside beckons once more as the open road leads to Chaucer’s Canterbury. En route is the medieval village of Wye, a hilly parish voted third in the UK’s best place to live and home to “The Crown”, a commemoration to Edward VII that was carved into the chalky North Downs in 1902. Upon arrival in picturesque Canterbury, you’ll check into the city’s most luxurious hotel and give your Harley hands a well-earned rest.
Day Three Day Three Awake just steps away from Canterbury Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that boasts stunning architectural feats and is tainted with the martyred death of Thomas Becket in 1170. The oldest parts of the Cathedral, St. Augustine’s Abbey and St. Martin’s Church date back to the 10th Century. If Middle English literature is more to your taste, delve into Chaucer’s allegorical depictions of the city in the Canterbury Tales. Top off your stay and relax in one of the charming cafés that line the alleyways of the city.
Once you've managed to draw your gaze away from charismatic Canterbury, your Harley adventure continues. A carefully chosen route back to London will not seem like a return to the capital as you pass through emerald green countryside, quaint villages and cap it all off with a hearty rev down Seven Mile Lane before your last leg into the capital.
We also recommend
- Visit the Royal Pavilion in Brighton
- Take a pit-stop at the unmissable Canterbury Cathedral
- For an unbeatable view of the city, take a ride on the Brighton Wheel
