Founded in 1730, Floris is the world’s oldest perfumer. To this day, the Floris shop at 89 Jermyn Street remains where Juan Floris first started the business after arriving from his native Menorca. Hundreds of years of knowledge and expertise have been passed through the company, with his descendants - now in the 8th and 9th generation - still running the shop. Floris currently holds two royal warrants: one as the only appointed Perfumers to HM The Queen Elizabeth II, and the other as Manufacturers of Toilet Preparations to HRH The Prince of Wales. These sit alongside 15 others from Floris' history, the first awarded in 1820. Meanwhile, famous men through the generations have been admirers of Floris' fragrances include Winston Churchill (a customer for over 30 years), Sir Ranulph Fiennes (who took a bottle on an Arctic expedition in the 1970's), as well as James Bond author, Ian Fleming who was said to make regular visits to the Floris shop at 89 Jermyn Street. On the day of your visit, you’ll be introduced to one of Floris’ in-house perfumers who will guide you through the experience. You will also be presented with a gift box, inside which you’ll find a fragrance bottle engraved with your chosen initials ready to be filled with your new signature scent. Your two-hour consultation will begin by choosing a base perfume from Floris' extensive range of fine fragrance bases. Sip on a glass of champagne as you test out different fragrance notes and the Floris perfumer will slowly add the chosen scents until your personalised perfume is complete and poured into your 100ml bottle to take home. Enjoy the lasting legacy of having your fragrance added to the private perfume ledger, containing nearly 300 years’ worth of Floris’ bespoke fragrances.
