Description

The celebrated Bouchard Finlayson estate produces some of South Africa's most distinguished wines. Described by Berry Brothers & Rudd as "without question one of South Africa's leading premium producers", Bouchard's wines are much sought-after, and not readily available in the UK. There are only a small collection of venues with them on offer.

The Montague on the Gardens Hotel is one of the Bouchard estate's sister properties, part of the Red Carnation Hotels group. In the seclusion of Bloomsbury, the hotel is a setting of serenity on the vibrant doorstep of Soho and Covent Garden. A multi-time winner of TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice Award, this Georgian-style townhouse provides exemplary personal service, understated comfort, and - of course - a selection of Bouchard Finlayson's finest. The intimate Terrace Bar & Conservatories are an oasis from London's busy streets.

Seated in one of these beautiful spaces, sample three premium wines each from the estate. A brief discussion of the wines, two red and one white, from the hotel's sommelier will last approximately 20 minutes, after which guests are free to enjoy the wines at their own leisure. To round off the experience, each wine will be expertly matched with canapés inspired by the nation's cuisine, for an authentic South African experience.

Sample Wines:

  • Bouchard Finlayson Galpin Peak Pinot Noir
  • Bouchard Finlayson Hannibal blend (rated 99/100 by South African Wine Index)
  • Bouchard Finlayson Blanc de Mer (named "Best New World White Wine" by Decanter Magazine)

Reviews

  • Wine Tasting

The gentleman hosting the wine tasting was excellent and made the whole experience very pleasant.

    Great time

    Thoroughly enjoyable evening.

  • Wonderful

It was a lovely evening at the Montague with Luke as our waiter!

A real taste of Africa in the middle of London

Lovely venue. The hospitality and wine and food were excellent. The host was friendly and professional as were all the hotel staff.

  • Definitely worth tasting.

Delicious wines sampled in the newly decorated leopard bar in the Montague on the Gardens brought back happy memories of our fantastic Safari.

    Great wine tasting event

Great venue, as the weather was nice they held the wine tasting outside. The wines were really good and our host Everett was excellent and made the whole event really enjoyable. The canapés were good - we had a mini burger, lamb kebab and a South African savoury pastry

  • Excellent

The staff were very welcoming and very knowledgeable, we weren't rushed at all and the food was excellent

Delightful experience, not to be missed.

We had a wonderful wine tasting in the Leopard Bar at Montague on the Gardens Hotel. Thor, our wine tasting expert was so insightful and we had an amazing time sampling different wines and canapes. An unforgettable afternoon experience.

  • Great experience

We had a great evening at Montague on the Gardens and we can't wait for the next wine tasting.Everything was perfect and we really enjoyed the whole experience!!

    Wine tasting at its best

A very professional and friendly wines tasting, Our host Tibi was excellent , really knowledgeable and engaging, Luke the restaurant manager was so friendly we stayed for dinner, nice location, nice people, would recommend it

  • Great afternoon!

Great day, amazing staff.. Well and truly looked after

    What a treat!

We arrived at this lovely hotel and were taken to our cosy sofa and tasting table in a pretty conservatory at the back. Everett, our host, talked us through our three wine and gave us plenty of background on the vineyard and the wine grower. The wines were delicious and the canapes generous. We spent a very happy couple of hours, eating and drinking. On our way out, Everett showed us round the hotel. His enthusiasm, both for wine and the hotel, was a delight. What a lovely experience!

  • Perfect event, fantastic venue

Our host was welcoming, friendly and certainly knew what he was talking about. The venue was lovely and we had a room to ourselves away from the main restaurant which made it that little bit more private and special. I Would definitely recommend to anyone who is a regular to wine tasting or a first timer like ourselves. The host was more than accommodating, especially considering that neither myself or my partner had any great knowledge of wine!

    Truly recommended

Absolutely fantastic, brilliant communication from yourselves from start to finish.

  • Great for a sunny day

Great for an older couple as the decor of the venue is old fashioned but very quaint. What made it extraordinary was being able to sit outside as the inside was a bit old fashioned.

    The wines were gorgeous

The individual service, setting and attention were special . The wines were gorgeous. The canapés were pleasant, although the kebabs were very tough. We had to change our booking time at the last minute and this was not a problem at all and very politely and professionally handled.

  • Excellent location, food and wines

The location was great, the wines amazing and so was the food. Also, we are excellent together :)

    Super Setting

The setting was lovely. The wine was incredibly tasty and the staff a delight. One of my favourite birthday presents this year, and the customer service from truly was excellent to boot.
