Description
Conquer Bolivia's Death Road, in an action-packed ride of a lifetime. This is the ultimate 'Bucket List' adventure for all mountain bike thrill seekers.
Gravity has over 15 years of experience operating the ride down “The World’s Most Dangerous Road”. Under expert instruction by guides at Gravity, you can safely appreciate some of South America's most dramatic and beautiful scenery as you hurtle down El Camino de la Muerte.
Your ride begins at the towering peak of La Cumbre at 15,400ft in the shadow of the isolated, snow-covered peak of Huayna Potosí, standing at an impressive 19,973ft. From here, descend rapidly down the twisting asphalted road among grazing alpacas, soaring peaks and rustic Andean villages.
Soon you’ll begin to enter the jungle itself and the most challenging part of the ride. This ride is only one of the few remaining routes that connects the Amazon rainforest region to northern Bolivia. The infamous narrow dirt road is cut precariously into the side of the mountain and descends over 2,000m at a dramatic rate. As you battle through wispy mist and rough terrain, you’ll be confronted by 3,000ft sheer drops to the left and hulking rock overhangs and cascading waterfalls to your right.
After 3,600m and 22km from high-altitude plains and mountain ranges down to the steaming Amazonian jungle, you’ll ride into beautiful La Senda Verde. This ecological mountain retreat is a refuge for endangered and rehabilitated animals such as ocelots, spectacled bears and monkeys. Relax and play with the animals or take a refreshing dip in the natural lake, whilst enjoying some well-deserved Bolivian comfort food and a stiff drink. Each night you will rest easy, with five-star accommodation in La Paz.
