Description
Gilbert Winfield has worked in the wine industry for over 20 years. During this period, he has worked everywhere from France to South Africa, and holds the Diploma from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, for whom he is an Approved Educator. In addition to teaching, Winfield is a member of the Circle of Wine Writers and a judge for the International Wine Challenge, one of the UK’s premier wine competitions.
The informal, fun and educational day-long wine workshop will see guests taken on a tour of world wines by leading industry expert and founder of Winfield Wines, Gilbert Winfield. Guests will be taught proper tasting techniques and sample 16 exceptional wines. Topics will include Old World vs New World styles, the major grape varieties (illustrated by fine wines from around the world), why some wines cost more than others, and how to tell the difference, wine and food matching – finishing with blind tastings to test your new knowledge.
During the day, break for a three-course lunch, offering the chance to discuss wine further with Gilbert and your classmates, while enjoying some superb seasonal food.
