Wine is a complex, fascinating topic that has a rich history stretching across the globe, with rivalries between countries who continue to battle it out for the acclaim of best producer. This experience is perfect for wine lovers who like to be at home or in their own space, while discovering a little more about how the professionals taste wine, describing elements such as the nose, aroma, acidity, structure, texture and balance. During your tasting session, you’ll have the opportunity to taste fine wines from around the world, sampling eight different varieties, learning the correct tasting techniques and the processes that go into making each wine. As well as identifying the subtle flavours in each glass, you'll also learn about food pairings that complement each of the wines and pair each one with a premium cheese. The tasting will focus specifically on Old World and New World styles, looking at the difference the climate, geography, and tradition have on the taste in your glass. European classics like Chianti and Rioja will be contrasted with similar New World versions. The experience will be a taste tour of the world through the example of 8 fine wines. Gilbert has over twenty years of experience working everywhere from France to South Africa and is qualified to the highest level with WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust). He belongs to the Circle of Wine Writers and serves as a judge for the International Wine Challenge, one of the UK’s premier wine competitions.
