Explore the world of wine with a group of friends or family in an intimate 90-minute masterclass led by expert Gilbert Winfield. Winfield has over twenty years of experience working everywhere from France to South Africa and holds a Diploma from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, for whom he is an Approved Educator. During the private lesson, Winfield will teach the ins-and-outs of wine culture in a fun and informative way before guiding guests through a tasting of six fine wines, complete with cheese pairings.

If you’ve ever wondered how experts sample wine, how bottle prices are determined or how old world wine differs from new world varieties, Gilbert Winfield’s 90-minute masterclass will reveal all.

Winfield has been immersed in the wine industry for over 20 years. During this period, he has worked everywhere from France to South Africa and belongs to the Circle of Wine Writers and serves as a judge for the International Wine Challenge, one of the UK’s premier wine competitions.

During the private 90-minute masterclass, learn about topics ranging Old World vs New World styles, the major grape varieties (illustrated by fine wines from around the world), why some wines cost more than others, and how to tell the difference, wine and food matching – finishing with blind tastings to test your new knowledge. Gilbert will present wines at intervals, enjoying six premium and fine wines over the course of the masterclass, each paired with a cheese that enhances its distinctive profile. The tasting will take place in a venue of choice and the masterclass can be tailored to specific interests.
