Description

The Victoria and Albert Museum was voted Museum of the Year 2016 and is one of the most famous museums on the planet - and there's no better way to see it than with a private guide to help explore your area of interest.

To call the V&A's collections as extensive or comprehensive would be the strongest of understatements. The museum's subjects range from architecture to ceramics, fashion, photography, theatre, furniture, drawings, dance and more; with almost every theme imaginable represented, including contemporary, Art Deco, Gothic, Renaissance, Surrealism, Baroque and beyond.

This package gives the recipient a choice of over 10 themed tours, to hone in on the area they are most interested in. Those interested in fashion can explore changes in taste and style from the 17th century to today; those interested in architecture can take in over 2,500 years of history; and there's even a tour all about the history of tea. These are just some of the options available. Alternatively, they could opt for the Discover V&A tour, to give a more general overview of the museum's collection and history.

The tour will be taken by one of the V&A's expert guides, who will have a specialism in the chosen area. They will be your private guide for the hour, meaning you will experience the maximum benefit of their expertise. Over the course of the tour, you will be shown to the most significant and interesting works in the subject area, with your guide giving background and insight into each piece.

Following the tour, you will be free to continue perusing the museum at your own leisure and pace, to expand upon the highlights picked out by your guide.

After your time at the V&A, take a short stroll over to Knightsbridge's newest Michelin-starred restaurant, Outlaw's at the Capital. Outlaw's holds a Michelin Stars, three AA Rosettes and Chef-Patron Nathan Outlaw is currently recognised as one of the finest chefs in Britain.

Lauded by The Telegraph as "a chef with an amazingly light touch, rare mastery of textural contrast and the inventiveness to compliment his technique", Chef-Patron Nathan Outlaw is one of Britain's best-celebrated restaurateurs. Taking an original spin on traditional British seafood cookery, Outlaw's at the Capital has an intimate ambience, making it the perfect destination for two people to indulge in a masterful five-course culinary adventure.

  • We had a fantastic Day

Thank you so much, we had a fantastic day. Anne really brought the V&A collections to life and gave us lots of ideas for future exploration of the museum. The lunch at The Square was very special, each dish was a delicious work of art and it was great to get to see behind the scenes. Thanks to Uniqlo for the Golden ticket and to all at Truly for bringing everything together. Helen

Private V&A tour and dining experience in The Square

The V&A tour was excellent. The guide was knowledgable. The dining experience in The Square was very good as well. The food in the tasting menu was excellent, as expected. A small flying insect landed on my champagne drink. It was immediately taken away but replaced with a wine (not champagne). The tour of the kitchen was good.

  • Terrific

This museum was filled with all kinds of unusual things. It was so much fun to walk around and just explore each room. You never knew what you were going to see next! We really enjoyed this museum. The food that followed was simply inspired, one of the best dining experiences I have had in the capital.
