Description

Experience a high-altitude adventure with this 30-minute helicopter tour of Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. Take off in a four-seater Robinson R44 helicopter and soar over the sea towards the magical isle, on a thrilling low-level flight. Below you’ll have panoramic views of Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight, as the helicopter glides its way through the open skies.

Your helicopter tour starts by flying west towards the South Downs, taking in the sights of Dunsfold Airfield where Top Gear was filmed, and then onto the market town of Midhurst where you will see the magnificent ruins of Cowdray House – one of England’s most important early Tudor houses.

Continuing over the Downs you will see the Isle of Wight in the distance as you head over Hayling Island and on towards the No Mans Land Fort, giving you ample time to prepare yourself as your helicopter flies over the Isle of Wight. Heading towards the famous Needles, the chopper will swoop low over the water so you can view the jagged rocks and lighthouse.

As your flight turns back towards the east you will see the harbour at Cowes, the sailing centre and capital of the island. East of Cowes is Osborne House, which was bought in 1845 by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as their summer home and rural retreat.

Your helicopter tour returns across the sea to the home of the British Royal Navy in Portsmouth where the Spinnaker Tower and historic naval dockyards come into view. Your helicopter flight continues over small villages and market towns as you explore the British countryside. Landing on solid ground brings you to the end of your tour, but certainly not the end of your epic couple’s adventure.
