Description
Discover Daniel Clifford’s Flitch of Bacon in the village of Little Dunmow in Essex, housed in a stunning sixteenth-century Grade I listed building. It takes its name from an ancient romantic ritual, awarded to couples who could prove that they had ‘not wisht themselves unmarried for 12 months and a day’. Beautifully renovated, the Flitch combines the charm of a traditional village pub with a modern dining area. The restaurant is tastefully furnished with pieces handmade in Portugal, adorned with quirky, pig-orientated decorative touches.
The 40-cover restaurant offers seasonal menus showcasing high quality local ingredients, including foraged foods, local meats and sustainable seafood. Guests can expect high standards of cooking and beautifully presented dishes.
The Flitch has three very comfortable, contemporary guest rooms upstairs, each named after rare breeds of pig. The rooms are individually furnished in a contemporary style, with bright splashy fabrics and quirky finishes. With king- or super king-sized bed and en-suite bathrooms guests can relax in comfort.
Enjoy a stay at the warm and welcoming Fitch of Bacon and lap up an indulgent gourmet escape.
