“The best restaurant in the world” Giles Coren, The Times
Why we love it
Serving up the best of Scotland’s produce in true Highland spirit and style, Mac & Wild is a more than a wee treat for those who love meat and whisky. The vibe: Scottish Highlands-meets-contemporary with wooden beams, leather and fur seating and over 200 varieties of whisky bottles behind the bar. Expect a true celebration of Scotland’s remarkable natural larder in a warm and cosy ambience.
What's Included?
- Experience a 'Coo & Claw' menu for two at Mac & Wild Devonshire Square or Fitzrovia; Scotland’s answer to surf & turf
- Start with a glass of Vino Vispo Italian sparkling wine each
- Savour 400g of soft, buttery grilled beef chateaubriand to share
- Indulge in 500g of a whole, butter-poached Cromarty lobster to share
- Choose two sides to share from a healthy and hearty selection
Description
Mac & Wild has a prominent focus on game meats (sourced from Ardgay Game, run by the restaurant founder Andy Waugh’s father and brother), and serves enough whisky to wash an elephant.
Following the success of the first permanent site in Fitzrovia, Mac & Wild Devonshire Square opened in 2016, bringing the restaurant to East London. Inside, the décor is handsomely masculine: natural wood flooring and tables and blood red leather seating, it also offers the addition of a Gun Room downstairs. The pine tree-decorated shooting range intends to transport diners to a shoot in the Scottish Highlands with a virtual shooting range that connects the experience with the game.
During your Land & Loch dining experience, you’ll each start with a glass of Vino Vispo Italian sparkling wine, followed by an ever-so-stylish surf and turf. A 400g grilled beef chateaubriand is complemented by a half-kilogram whole butter-poached Cromarty lobster, both to share. You’ll also have the choice of two hearty sides to add to your meal, including haggis mac and cheese, roast rosemary tatties or crispy shallots and candied bacon covered with a sticky Black Isle lager and whisky sauce, to name a few.
With the Scottish solution to surf and turf on your doorstep, there’s every reason to take a trip here as soon as possible!
