A modern land yacht is light and beautifully simple. It works in exactly the same way as a sea yacht does, but because wheel bearings produce much less resistance than a hull being dragged through water, they go a lot faster - up to about three times the speed of the wind.Land yachting is like an ingenious fusion of motor racing and sailing, done in beautiful surroundings in the great outdoors. This adventurous sport originated in ancient Egypt in a far more primitive form, but has now made it into the ranks of one of the most favoured extreme sports. With no brakes and very little resistance, this contraption requires courage, confidence and a whole load of adrenaline!During your land yachting experience, you will be under the professional guidance of Andy from Fishy’s Land Yachts. With over 16 years of experience in teaching land yachts and kite buggies, Andy will provide you with all the safety instructions needed to ride the yacht with confidence and ease.Your session will start with a briefing on safety, riding techniques and step-by-step instructions on how to harness the wind to get the most out of your day. You’ll then practice on a figure of 8 course, learning basic movements until you feel comfortable enough to progress to the great outdoors. As part of a group, you’ll be able to learn from each other – as well as raise a glass together in the bar at the end of an adventurous day!
