Description

The MCC, founded by Thomas Lord, has been recognised as the sole authority on the Laws of Cricket since its foundation, playing its first match at the former site of Lord’s Cricket Ground in 1787. The first match at the current “Home of Cricket” in St. John’s Wood was held in 1814, and has gone on to become one of the world’s most famous sporting venues.

Today, the MCC Cricket Academy is London's premier indoor cricket destination and a world-class facility where a number of cricket’s greats have honed their skills; including Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who prepared for the 2011 series against England at the Academy. It has a 'breathable' design, making it ideal for practice year-round; allowing natural air to flow and allowing sunlight in, without causing hard shadows thanks to sails in the roof.

Lord’s is the only place in the world where budding, amateur and advanced cricketers can access Hawk-Eye bowling analysis and PitchVision batting analysis as a cricket training tool – the same technology used by Middlesex players and international cricket stars.

This Utlimate Experience with the MCC Cricket Academy gives you the opportunity to enjoy a group net session to either learn the basics, sharpen existing cricketing skills or simply enjoy a day out with friends. You’ll be given full access to, and use of, the world’s leading cricket coaching technologies, as well as expert coaching on the day. Bowlers will be sent a video of performance, including stats such as bowling speeds, pitch maps and beehives, and batsmen will receive instant feedback via the PitchVision computer analysis in the net, plus videos sent at the end of the session.

Bowling Analysis T&Cs: The Bowling Analysis session time is a combination of time in the net and time spend analysing the data – an hour long session is typically split into 40mins in the net and 20mins in the Analysis Suite. The maximum number of deliveries that can be captured in an hour long session varies depending on the number of people, type of bowling and several other factors.

For the purpose of analysis, players are required to bowl 6 deliveries in a row. As the net environment is a lot more restricted than a cricket ground not all deliveries may be tracked and the bowlers may be asked to bowl additional deliveries.

Equipment: Cricket whites compulsory, with non-studded footwear (e.g. trainers). Bats, pads, helmets and gloves will be provided. Own abdomen guard required, which can be purchased from the on-site Cricket Store (£4-£7 per person).

Closures: Note that the MCC Cricket Academy is closed for private lessons on the dates of international cricket matches at Lord's. It is also closed for private lessons between 10am and 5pm on dates where children's courses are being run during school holidays.
