Description

The five-star Rubens at The Palace oozes opulence with awe-inspiring chandeliers, original artwork and polished silverware, offering a unique ambience and dining experiences. The Victorian hotel overlooks Buckingham Palace and perfectly positioned to soak up great British culture. The tea ritual is served in the Palace Lounge, allowing guests to watch the activity of the Royal Mews opposite.

The Rubens has teamed up with tea merchants PMD Tea, offering guests PMD’s Ceylon Golden Tips, arguably one of the best and most exclusive teas Sri Lanka has to offer. This rare and unique loose tea is produced in the highlands of Sri Lanka, grown at an altitude of 6000m near Adams Peak. Tea pluckers hand pick the tips of the small shoots at sunrise which are then sun dried on a velvet cloth, turning the buds from silver to gold.

The Rubens’ afternoon tea team is giving the Ceylon Golden Tips Tea the five-star treatment, using tweezers to carefully pick the delicate leaves from a mahogany box lined with velvet and weighed with precision using golden scales. The tea is then infused using still natural mineral water and poured from a silver tea set to produce an extraordinary tea - smooth, light and mellow with hints of fruity notes. This beautiful tea is served alongside a regal afternoon tea of sandwiches, scones, cakes, pastries. The Rubens recommends sipping on the tea before sampling the tea treats.

An unforgettable afternoon tea and the ultimate experience for a tea connoisseur.
