Description

Get away to the Scottish wilderness, for an escape with friends, or the ultimate father-son adventure. Try your hand at a centuries-old sporting tradition, taking to the countryside with an expert deer stalking guide.

Deer stalking is a fascinating way to discover the country's impressive landscape. Mountains, glens, and forest will surround you as you experience this traditional part of Scottish life. Pit yourself against nature; learn the patience and work involved from expert guides, and ultimately test your shot. You will go on three deer stalking outings during your stay, with rifle hire, ammunition, tuition, and return transfer from Glenapp Castle provided.

Deer management is a vital part of maintaining a healthy herd and eco-system. A professional stalker will know how to select the deer to be culled, and you will learn about this process on each outing. Deer stalking is not just about the kill; it is a part of the country's land management aimed at reducing a near-chronic over population. Deer management is important for controlling herd sizes, and for protecting local forests and farmed crops.

Relax each night at Glenapp Castle, a beautiful five-star castle hotel nestled in the woods and overlooking the Irish Sea. A member of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux Association since 2001, the hotel is the former home of the Earl of Inchcape. Each guest room is individually decorated and furnished, showcasing antiques and fine oil paintings. The expansive grounds provide stunning views of the Isle of Arran and Ailsa Craig.

The restaurant at Glenapp is on it's own reason to visit; holding 3 AA Rosettes. Chefs in the Glenapp dining rooms showcase a fresh Scottish larder, and feature locally-sourced Ayrshire produce.
