Under The African Sky Safari With Meerkat Interaction

Journey on a safari to the Kalahari and stay in one of the most original and exciting camps in Africa, set in a truly fascinating area. Jack's Camp was established by the legendary African character Jack Bousfield, who was one of the great explorers and adventurers of the continent. There are just ten bedouin-style canvas tents offering luxurious accommodation and an experience like no other. This intimate camp is one of only two permanent camps in the Makgadikgadi.

At Jack’s Camp, the sand-scape is stark, but breathtaking in it’s apparent barrenness. The camp is set on a small rise with endless views of rolling grassland on one side and salt pans on the other, with a small water hole attracting birds and animals.

The camp with its old fashioned, ultra luxurious and elegant safari tents, are reminiscent of a by-gone era and furnished in traditional East African 1940s safari style with four-poster beds and Persian carpets. With a pool and spa, guests can relax and unwind in style in the middle of Botswana’s Kalahari Desert.

Enjoy game drives with experienced guides and get an understanding of Makgadikgadi’s history as well as the area’s geology and archaeology. In addition to the Black-maned Kalahari Lions, rarer and elusive species such as Brown Hyena can also be seen. Furthermore, guests have the option to saddle up and embark on a horseback safari across the desert pans, as well the chance to interact with the animated meerkats. The Kalahari’s ongoing Habituation Programme at Jack’s Camp and San Camp in Botswana’s Kalahari Desert presents travellers with the unique opportunity to interact with the intriguing meerkats. The charming creatures inquisitively look out onto the plains of the desert, noses firmly in the air, eager to touch base with willing visitors.

Suggested Itinerary:

• Day one: Arrival and check-in to Jack's Camp followed by dinner
• Days two to four:Explore the African wilderness with game drives, a meerkat interaction and other activities
• Day four:Check out, transfer back to Maun
