MORE ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

The Namiri Plains Camp is the first and only camp located in the eastern grasslands of central Serengeti and was created for real safari enthusiasts seeking comfort and exclusivity in secluded surroundings. Surrounded by an ocean of grass, Namiri is where guests will comprehend why the Maasai called this region Serengeti, ‘endless plains’.

With the aid of excellent guides, guests have the opportunity to experience a more intense wildlife encounter. The region is considered big cat country, with ‘Namiri’ meaning ‘big cat’ in Swahili. Witness the great migration as massive herds pass through Namiri Plains from October to May and unleash spectacular predator sightings during December and January as the resident big cats feast on the passing herds of wildebeest and zebra.

Explore the plains on daily vehicle safaris which offer opportunities to enjoy sightings of all sorts of species. As well as abundant cheetah, lion, and leopard, you can expect to see black rhino, buffalo, wildebeest, Coke’s hartebeest, spotted hyena, aardwolf, and ground pangolin. Enjoy walking safaris with fantastic experienced guides and observe hundreds of bird species along with the area’s smaller wildlife, insects and plant life.

To minimise the impact on the environment, the camp comprises of only eight tents. Pitched in the shade of giant acacias, this small and exclusive tented haven offers unparalleled views of wildlife crossing the surrounding plains, the river with its perennial vegetation attracting birds and smaller wildlife species. Guests can expect luxurious bush accommodation with en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets, super-soaking bucket showers, comfortable beds, hearty meals and a well stocked bar. Gather in the evenings around a camp fire, soak in the majestic night sky and recount the day’s adventures before savouring a three-course dinner.

The game viewing along with the level of privacy and exclusivity of Namiri Plains Camp is unparalleled. A truly unforgettable experience for any safari and wildlife lover.
