“What an amazing opportunity to be able to experience lunar gravity and weightlessness again. Felt just like being back on the Apollo!” Dr Buzz Aldrin, Apollo 11 Astronaut
Why we love it
Join the likes of Richard Branson, Stephen Hawking and Buzz Aldrin to be one of the only people on the planet to experience this astronaut training. Like nothing on Earth, zero gravity must be seen to be believed. If you’ve ever wondered about Newton’s theory, here’s the opportunity to test it out yourself!
What's Included?
- Be one of the only people in the world to experience zero gravity astronaut training for one person
- Prepare for your flight with a series of weightlessness sessions
- Take to the sky for two hours of parabolic flight
- Meet and have lunch with a NASA astronaut and take a tour of Cape Canaveral
- Spend four nights at a luxury hotel in Orlando, Florida
Description
A unique opportunity to experience true weightlessness, complete with parabolic arcs which will make you flip, float and soar as if you were in space. Aboard a specially modified plane, weightlessness is achieved by doing aerobatic manoeuvres known as parabolas. Specially trained pilots perform these aerobatic moves which are not simulated in any way.
Before starting a parabola, the plane levels to the horizon at an altitude of 24,000 feet. The pilot then begins to pull up, gradually increasing the angle of the aircraft to about 45° to the horizon reaching an altitude of 34 000 feet. During this pull-up, passengers will feel the pull of 1.8 Gs. Then the plane is ‘pushed over’ to create the zero-gravity segment of the parabola. For the next 20-30 seconds everything in the plane is weightless, until the plane stabilises again. These acrobatics are repeated 12-15 times, each taking about ten miles of airspace to perform.
Taking off from Miami in Florida, you’ll join the likes of Buzz Aldrin, Stephen Hawking and Richard Branson who have experienced this weightless flight in the very same aircraft. As part of the adventure, you’ll travel to Cape Canaveral for a tour of NASA and to have lunch with a current NASA astronaut. At the end of your weightlessness training, you’ll have the luxury of relaxing in a four-star hotel in Orlando.
As Dr Buzz Aldrin said, ‘I hope that everyone interested in adventure and space will participate in this amazing opportunity. Truly exhilarating.’
