During the bread making course, you will learn the basics of bread making, covering the different types of flours, yeasts and techniques behind kneading and baking so that you can leave a fully capable and confident bread maker. You’ll discover how to use the correct bread-making techniques such as mixing, kneading, shaping, and baking the perfect loaf as well as how to create and keep a healthy leaven, the sourdough starter.
To start your day, you’ll be invited to a Cookery School breakfast, followed by a hands-on demonstration with Dan Lepard, detailing the origins of sourdough and how to perfect it – right from the starter to the crust. The sourdough process is one that requires patience and intuition and this is something that is focused on during the masterclass.
After a Cookery School lunch, you’ll continue to discover more about the artistry of sourdough with an afternoon question and answer session. On completion of the day, you’ll have a fresh pot of leaven and a variety of loaves to take with you to enjoy at home.
