Description

Kent is the Garden of England, and in the picturesque village of Biddenden, The West House restaurant celebrates the region’s fine produce, and culinary offerings.

Housed in a 15th Century weaver's cottage, The West House Restaurant is one of only a handful in Kent to boast a Michelin star. Working with respect for home-grown produce, head chef and owner Graham Garrett brings a new edge to British cuisine. The restaurant's six-course tasting menu sources best-in-season, local produce, and reflects innovative global influence.

Garrett refined his technique working in the kitchens of leading chefs such as Nico Ladenis and Richard Corrigan. Prior to opening The West House in 2002, he was an established drummer for 80s bands such as the Ya-Ya’s and Dumb Blondes. Lucky for lovers of fine cuisine, Garrett has since hung up his sticks and took up the chef’s knife. Garrett has won a slew of culinary awards and has also been given the honour of cooking at 10 Downing Street for visiting dignitaries, as well as preparing a private dinner for Her Majesty, the Queen of England.

Beautiful interiors feature heavily beamed ceilings, contemporary oil paintings and an inglenook fireplace; the restaurant has been gently modernised to perfectly match the cuisine. The relaxed yet elegant ambience promises an enjoyable and friendly experience whatever the occasion.

Sample Tasting Menu:

  • Smoked Haddock - Warm haddock carpaccio, bacon dressing, pickled rock samphire, pea shoots
  • Foie Gras - Duck liver parfait, duck confit, pickled rhubarb, cured foie gras, spiced bread
  • Turbot - Sherry barrel grilled fillet, braised cuttlefish
  • Pork - Iberico presa, our own black pudding, gooseberry compote
  • Milk & Honey - Milk mousse, nuggets, and crisps, honey ice cream, caramelised chocolate
  • Crunchie white chocolate honeycomb parfait, dark chocolate sorbet
