Description

Formerly owned by the Duke of Roxburghe, this charming country house hotel is as rural and tranquil as it gets, in a 300-acre estate of mature woodland and manicured lawns, with vistas over farmland in the rolling hills of the Scottish border. With a championship golf course, a range of country sports and a Michelin-trained chef, a getaway at SCHLOSS Roxburghe Hotel is a varied and exciting one.

On arrival at the hotel, you’ll be greeted with an afternoon tea, before taking to the fresh air for a Tomahawk experience. Thereafter you’ll be presented with a three-course menu created by a protégé of Albert Roux. A list of predominantly old-world wines, from Soave Classico to a 2015 Grand Cru Burgundy are available at your own cost to complement each dish. After dinner, a whisky tasting at Bar 1745 awaits.

On your second day, you’ll be invited to a private clay pigeon shooting lesson followed by an indulgent five-course Scottish taster menu, showcasing classic Scottish cuisine, from rabbit and pheasant ballotine to ‘game of vin’ slow cooked to perfection.

For the adventurous out there, this is the experience for you.
