Reviews

  • Fantastic, faultless experience

Fantastic day. Both the London Eye and lunch at The Westbury were faultless

    GOOD BUT NOT BRILLIANT

The trip in the Eye with champagne was brilliant, it was a bright clear day so that obviously helped. Perhaps there could have been less people in the gondola/pod, we had 18 and that was probably 6 too many, but otherwise the organisation was good. The restaurant at the Westbury was very compact and cosy and surroundings were good. We had plenty of attention from the staff but the choice of food was very limited, only two choices for each course, which made it very hard to choose. We both picked a starter was very tasty and the breads and amuse bouche were very good, but unfortunately the main courses left a lot to be desired. I had the roasted cod, this was billed as (Fish and Chips) which was bland and tasteless, with pea puree and peas, the peas were hard, there was also something that was supposed to be chips/potatoes, it was a thin tasteless sauce with some crisps floating in it. My wife had the beef cheek which turned out to be a piece of meat that had been cooked for so long it was mushy and also tasteless. The staff we very good and asked if my wife wanted to change for something else, by now I was half way through my course, but a) that would have entailed me eating my main course on my own, and b) there was nothing else on the menu that was very appealing. The cheese and dessert were as you would expect but how this restaurant is rated Michelin is beyond belief. You need to have a restaurant with more choices and food that has taste.
