With over 20 years of experience in the UK wine trade, Stuart George founded Vins Extraordinaires to share his personal passion for the sociable nature of wine drinking. Lead contributor to the best-selling 1001 Wines You Must Try Before You Die, Stuart has earned the title as "wine detective", having been asked to salvage 100-year-old wines from a shipwreck off the Cornish coast. With family or friends, discover a selection of the world's greatest wines with Stuart over the course of an unforgettable evening.
Founded by independent wine consultant, Stuart George's Vins Extraordinaires offers fine wine socialising and networking in the heart of Mayfair. Having started his wine career twenty years ago, Stuart's list of accolades in the wine industry is as impressive as his experienced and fastidious palate. Working alongside the Master of Wine and former Christie's Senior Consultant Anthony Hanson, Stuart has tasted vintages as far back as 1780. A sought-after wine show judge the world over, Stuart has been the sole UK representative at the Shanghai International Wine Challenge, the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in Chile, the Austrian Wine Challenge, and the 21st Concorso Enologico Internazionale in Italy. Nestled in the heart of Mayfair, Vin Extraordinaires' boardroom in an 1864 townhouse is an elegant and private space with high ceiling and natural light. Your tasting journey includes five different fine wines from around the world, served in exclusive Zalto glassware. Each paired with delicious cheeses from artisan cheese farmers Cows and Co, you will learn to evaluate and appreciate the process and flavour of the pairing, no matter your level of wine knowledge. In this intimate wine experience curated by Vins Extraordinaires, Stuart will divulge his in-depth knowledge in a fun and interactive way. Though informative, this is no boring wine lecture. Test your "blind tasting" skills to see if you can identify a wine without knowing what it is. How do you pour a glass of wine without opening the bottle? Can you spot a "genuine fake"? All this and more will turn you from a fine wine lover to a fine wine aficionado.
Monday to Thursday at 6pm subject to host's availability. Occasionally the host might be available on weekends and lunchtime.
