SCOTCH holds Edinburgh's largest whisky collection open to the public - more than 500 malts, blends and vintages lining a low-lit room inside The Balmoral. Fine & Rare is the pour you come here for: four drams from the rarest end of that shelf, either the best examples of a single style set side by side, or a selection your Ambassador chooses once they know your taste. You sit with each one while the story of the distillery that made it is told.

Your Ambassador asks what you like before anything is poured. Answer honestly and the four drams that follow are chosen for you - or, if you would rather, they will set out the best examples of a single style side by side, so you can taste exactly what separates them.
These are the fine and rare bottlings, the end of the shelf that does not get opened often. With each dram you are told where it came from, who made it and what they were trying to do: the tales of the distilleries and the people behind Scotland's national spirit, told by someone who knows them well. Four drams, no hurry, in the bar itself.

SCOTCH is the whisky bar at The Balmoral, the five-star landmark hotel at the east end of Princes Street. Behind the bar sits Edinburgh's largest whisky collection available to the general public: more than 500 malts, blends and vintages, covering the Highlands, Lowlands, Speyside, Islay and the Islands.
The room is built for sitting still, with amber walls, low tweed sofas and soft light. The Whisky Ambassadors who host the tastings are as comfortable with someone on their first dram as with a collector.
