Merchant House holds the largest collection of rum and gin in the city, offering guests a vast selection of spirits to taste. The bar celebrates the mercantile history that brought rum to this country. With cocktails that are snapshots of periods and events in history, this bar is unlike any other.
With a live jazz band setting the mood, the atmosphere is sophisticated yet welcoming and relaxed. Located in the heart of the City of London, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the crowded streets, Merchant House is a throwback to an age of discovery and exotic trade. Once inside, the bar reflects this sense of history with a literal library of vintage spirits collected from around the world.
The rum tasting masterclass begins with a signature house cocktail served during an introduction to the fascinating history of rum production. The tutors at Merchant House will share their expertise during a tasting that includes the origins of rum and its evolution to the present day. Explore the production process as well as the history of the spirit by tasting five distinct premium rums. Expect the likes of Ron Zacapa and Diplomatico Reserva as well as lesser known, limited-production rums. Finish with a true sip of history, as you sample a nip of a rare, vintage rum bottled from as early as 1950.
