Laurent-Perrier Champagne Afternoon Tea by Meridian Lounge

Perched on the Northern tip of the Greenwich Peninsula, Meridian Lounge sits within the stylish and classy Intercontinental Hotel. Steeped in natural light, the double-height windows invite the sunshine in, parading London in all its glittering glory.The décor is a mix of modern (marble panelling, steel, glass) and old-school boathouse, borrowing bits and pieces from a variety of styles and eras, both current and classic. Much of the hotel and lounges take on a maritime theme, like the Clipper Bar, with its mix of antique maps, vintage clocks, models of tall-mast ships and oval bar. In the Meridian Lounge, you’re invited to an Afternoon Tea where you’ll be greeted with a delightful glass of Laurent-Perrier Cuvee Rose NV each. The Afternoon Tea menu offers an extensive selection of savoury plates truffle egg mayonnaise on a mini brioche bun, goat cheese and leek tart with red onion chutney or crayfish Marie Rose on wholemeal bread. Sweet treats include scones with strawberry and Champagne preserve with Cornish clotted cream, apricot and fig choux or pistachio and blackberry deli. Of course, no Afternoon Tea would be complete without the tea. Sip on your choice of loose-leaf teas or those from the sommelier’s collection: Cape Colony Honeybos, Silver Cloud or Golden Tips.
