With a population of less than 15,000, the astounding town of Baiersbronn in Germany's Black Forest is a hidden culinary centre akin to Bray in Berkshire or San Sebastian in the Spanish Basque region. For some years, the calm village of Baiersbronn in the heart of the Black Forest has worked on its reputation for culinary excellence. In spite of housing less than 15,000 inhabitants, Baiersbronn plays host to restaurants which have racked up an impressive eight Michelin stars. Two restaurants in the town hold three Michelin stars; the same number of three-star restaurants boasted by London. The Schwarzwaldstube was the first to be awarded with three Michelin stars, before in 2007 the Restaurant Bareiss followed suit, also being awarded its third star. Upon your arrival in Stuttgart you will be picked up in a private Mercedes S-Class, which will chauffeur you over the Autobahn and along the small winding roads into the Black Forest. You will then check in to the highest category of hotel in Baiersbronn, with a room for two nights at one of the town's two 5-star properties. On one night of your culinary Black Forest break, we will book you to enjoy an unforgettable evening at one of the town's Michelin three-star restaurants; for the unique experience of sampling Baiersbronn's German nouvelle cuisine. You will be invited to have the large tasting menu (Ger: Degustationsmenü) in either one of the restaurants. Everything will be arranged prior your arrival so that you only need to arrive, sit back, and enjoy the ambience and food. The first of the town's three-star restaurants, Schwarzwaldstube, is located at the 5-star Hotel Traube. Only the second restaurant in Germany to be awarded the maximum three Michelin stars, a passion for local food has seen head chef Harald Wohlfard propelled to the top echelon of German cuisine. In addition, no less than seven of Germany's ten three-star chefs have worked under Wohlfard; an astonishing accomplishment which has contributed to his listing amongst the New York Times' best ten chefs in the world. Dining at the other three-star restaurant, Restaurant Bareiss, is often referred as the "Gastronomical Opera". Head Chef Clauss-Peter Lump has adopted a cooking style following traditional methods from France and Italy; expertly combining it with seasonal and regional ingredients. Consistently rated amongst Germany's top establishments, it is evident that Lump has learned his craft from gastronomical leaders such as Heinz Winkler, Eckart Witzigmann and Alain Ducasse. As well as its gastronomy, Baiersbronn is also well known for its spas and fascinating nature. Over the course of your two-night escape, there will be ample time to forget the hectic life of the city; with a hike through the stunning Black Forest, or a session of relaxation in the heavenly thermal baths. After a memorable escape from the world with this culinary Black Forest break, a chauffeured S-Class will pick you up from your hotel and take you back to Stuttgart, for your return journey home.
