Head to one of the world's most challenging links courses, Royal Lytham & St Anne's, for a day of two-balls golf as part of this Lancashire golf break. With a luxury two night hotel stay and private transfer to and from the course, this is the perfect gift for a golf enthusiast. Founded in 1886, Royal Lytham & St. Anne's Golf Club has been home to one of the premier links courses in the world for a number of years. The course has hosted ten Open Championships, two Ryder Cups and numerous other major tournaments, while it also leads the way with its famous hospitality. The layout at the course has remained faithful to the original design, created by the the club's first professional, George Lowe, over a century ago. The only changes were made in 1919, when the preeminent course designer Harry Colt was asked to make recommendations for improvement. The Ryder Cup captain, Mark James, wrote that Royal Lytham is a "perfect combination of width of fairways, length of rough and pace and quality of greens. It should be used as a model for future Opens." Renowned as one of the world's most challenging courses, the conditioning of the course is renowned as exceptional, making the greens firm, fast and true. As part of this Lancashire golf break, guests will be able to enjoy two rounds of two-balls golf on the hallowed greens of Royal Lytham. They will be based in a luxury hotel nearby over the course of two nights, with luxury transfer to and from the course. Between the two rounds of golf, guests will be treated to a delicious lunch at the famous Clubhouse. Upon entering, an all-encompassing sense of history, combined with the trademark warmth and friendliness of the club, is immediately palpable. The splendid lunch meal will take place with incredible views across the eighteenth green. The links course itself is located just half a mile inland from the Irish Sea and the nearby landmark of Blackpool Tower is visible from the green. The pleasant sea wind sweeps across the green course, bringing with it a sense of vitality that aids guests in their battle against the exacting nature of the course. Though this course is relatively short, the routing of the holes and the huge number of bunkers - some 200 in all - make Royal Lytham a challenge to behold.
