Ozone Coffee Roasters was started in New Zealand, focused on helping plantation workers in Guatemala and El Salvador. Since its founding in 1995 the company has remained true to its roots. The Shoreditch location houses both a downstairs roaster and a charming upstairs café. The exposed brickwork and weathered tables, as well as the large espresso bar allowing you to watch skilled Ozone baristas at work, has made it a popular Old Street destination. Since opening in London, Ozone has made an impact on the city’s coffee consumption, supplying high-profile restaurants such as Holborn Dining Room, Moro and Morito.

In this coffee 'cupping' session you will learn about the journey from bean to cup. Coffee cupping is a professional practice for best observing the tastes and aromas of a particular brew. From the unique characteristics of each single origin bean, to the harvesting process, to an insider look at roasting and brewing methods, this detailed tasting will introduce you to the subtle nuances and flavour profiles of Ozone’s unique coffees. You will begin tasting twp unconventional coffees in the upstairs café, and then move to the charming roasting area, surrounded by green coffee beans. Anson, Ozone's barista trainer will talk you through the roasting process and you will taste three single origin coffees. Brewing demonstrations will be given using both V60 and Aeropress recommended methods. At the end of your masterclass, each guest will take home a unique-to-TRULY custom tote bag with three 250g bags of Ozone coffee, as well tasting notes and suggested brewing tips.

    Brilliant and sooo informative, will never look at coffee the same although I feel there were some anti Starbucks snobs whereas I feel that you like what you like do go for it !

    Exceeded expections

    This experience exceeded expectations. Anson is incredibly knowledgable and took every question is his stride. Very interesting lesson and would happily recommend!

  • Different coffee for us

    The overall experience was very good, we enjoyed learning more about the growing and roasting process, and we saw some new ways to brew coffee. the trainer, Anson, was clearly very knowledgeable, and communicated extremely well.
    The only downside for us was that we normally only drink espresso-based coffees, and those were not covered on this particular tasting session, although I think they do cover them on other dates.
