Description

As the only city to span two continents, Istanbul literally, and metaphorically bridges the cultures of Europe and Asia. Formerly known as Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine, Roman, and Ottoman Empires, Istanbul has been a cosmopolitan crossroad for centuries. The melting pot of cultures represents a dichotomy of East and West, ancient and modern. From cuisine, to art, to architecture, this is a city that stimulates all the senses.

Located in the trendy area of Beyoglu, your luxurious 5-star hotel will act as the perfect base to explore all the sights Istanbul has to offer. Dine at trendy restaurant, Nicole, perched on a terrace boasting magnificent views of the Old Town, Prince Islands and beyond. Under the guidance of Chefs Kaan and Aylin, who both worked in prestigious Parisian restaurants, Nicole serves up contemporary Mediterranean cuisine. The in-house wine cellar has an impressive array of chateau style local wine from Aegean, Thrace and Anatolia, as well as imported varieties. On your first evening in Istanbul, you will savour the 8-course tasting menu, boasting beautiful ingredients such as shrimp, artichoke and yellow fin tuna.

A gastronomic getaway can only be improved upon by a luxe spa treatment. The Turkish bath, or hammam, dates back a thousand years and is a popular pastime that not only serves the purpose of cleansing and relaxing but is also a place for socialising and celebrating. The Sherazat Hammam experience at Çiragan Palace hotel invites guests to “lie down, close your eyes and surrender to the endless sensations conjured from water, soap suds, hands and fingers.” Traditional aromatic oils are massaged onto the body in typical hammam fashion, paying particular attention to the scalp, hands and feet, to rejuvenate the muscles.

Round-off an indulgent weekend with a grand 12-course degustation menu for two at Alancha, voted in the Top 100 Restaurants in the World. A visit to Alancha is, “a rich historical experience.” Chef Kemal Demirasal had the vision to celebrate 12,000-years of culinary history of his native Anatolia in a single dining experience. Prepared from ingredients of the seven regions of Anatolia, expect delicacies’ such as stuffed mussels, pistachio kebabs and baklava. Each course is delivered with historical references and an inspiration explanation. The effort, diligent research and unique table settings are complemented by the highest calibre of food.
