“One of the best ways to enjoy a thoroughly British afternoon in London” Forbes

Why we love it

Winner of The British Tea Guild Council’s Top London Afternoon Tea Award and The Award of Excellence, The Goring has been perfecting the art of Afternoon Tea for over a century. As the only 5-star family-run hotel in London, it boasts beautifully woven and hand-painted, personal touches of the family members in the lobby created in honor of the hotel's 105th anniversary, with a beautiful front hall designed by Russell Sage.

What's Included?

  • Experience a traditional afternoon tea at The Goring; a timeless British institution
  • Enjoy a selection of finger sandwiches
  • Savour freshly baked, warm homemade scones with Devonshire clotted cream and jam, cakes, bakes, fancies and tarts
  • Choose from the finest-blend, first-flush teas from around the world, brewed to your liking

Description

The Goring is London’s last family-owned luxury hotel, with over a hundred years of passion for hospitality and commitment to service. Today the hotel stands as a monument of British individuality and excellence in London.

As the holder of 2016’s The British Tea Guild Council’s Top London Afternoon Tea Award, it continues to delight with delicious pastries, homemade jams and eminent tea blends.

You arrive on a quaint, quiet street in Belgravia to warm-welcoming doormen smartly dressed in top hats and tails. Enter an elegant atmosphere of live piano or harp and classic English-style furnishings. The afternoon tea is served daily on the terrace overlooking a beautiful, private garden.

You’re presented with an extensive tea selection, served in large china teapots with extra hot water provided. Also on offer, is a gluten-free tea, which can be requested in advance.

The menu is ever-evolving, with the freshest, locally-sourced fruits in line with the season. To eat, choose from a three-tiered silver stand starting with an assortment of freshly prepared sandwiches, then freshly baked homemade scones served with Devonshire clotted cream and jams before finishing off with a selection of delicate homemade pastries.

Awarded a royal warrant by Queen Elizabeth, declaring it the royal family's "hotel of choice," you can’t possibly experience anything more quintessentially British than The Goring’s Afternoon Tea on the terrace.
