Traditional Afternoon Tea by Meridian Lounge

Running along the path in front of the hotel is the Prime Meridian line that comes all the way from the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, dividing the eastern and western hemispheres. An intriguing location, from which the hotel takes its name, marks the starting point of every time zone in the world. Inside, the stylish Meridian Lounge provides a relaxed environment, serving a selection of fine teas, aromatic coffees, freshly baked homemade cakes and light lunches. Set in a glorious location, with a backdrop of the River Thames and Canary Wharf, snacks and drinks can be enjoyed in elegant armchairs inside or on the outdoor terrace.The Afternoon Tea menu offers an extensive selection of savoury plates truffle egg mayonnaise on a mini brioche bun, goat cheese and leek tart with red onion chutney or crayfish Marie Rose on wholemeal bread. Sweet treats include scones with strawberry and Champagne preserve with Cornish clotted cream, apricot and fig choux or pistachio and blackberry deli. Of course, no Afternoon Tea would be complete without the tea. Sip on your choice of loose-leaf teas or those from the sommelier’s collection: Cape Colony Honeybos, Silver Cloud or Golden Tips.
