Description

Artist and founder, Izzy Moreau's vision was to create a sanctuary where people could remember what it’s like to work with their hands, ‘We believe that in today's technology-driven world, there is a strong desire for people to find escape in the hands-on methods of traditional arts and crafts,’ she says.

During the three-hour workshop, students will be introduced to two types of printing: drypoint and lino. The technique of Relief Printmaking is used for lino and includes carving an image and then inking the surfaces which are applied to paper. Intaglio is the method of incising an image into a plate using a sharp object. Ink is then applied to the plate, where it collects within the incisions, and transfers onto paper when under the pressure of a printing press. Compared to the bold, blockish effect of Relief Printing, Intaglio produces a very detailed and textured image.

You’ll have the choice to either try a small example of each or concentrate on one particular technique. With guidance from the experts, you’ll have the opportunity to create beautiful hand-made prints which you can take home. Leaving with your very own artwork, as well as technical skills and knowledge, you’ll be well on your way to becoming the next Monet!
