“Excellent experience - superb instructors/pilots and everyone was so helpful and accommodating. I previously intensely disliked flying, now I thoroughly enjoy it! Would recommend and will definitely return.” Flying Mag
Why we love it
Usually a pilot has to make a choice between propellers or wings, however in this two-for-one flight experience, you’ll have the rare opportunity to try your hand at controlling both a helicopter and a plane. Take to the skies and feel a sense of exhilaration as you glide a glorious hunk of metal through the air – not once, but twice.
What's Included?
- Discover what it’s like to fly both a Robinson R22 helicopter and a Cessna 152 aircraft with a flight experience for one with Almat Flying Academy
- Get to grips with all aspects of helicopter and plane flight, including how to operate the controls and what happens at take-off and landing
- Spend 30 minutes in the helicopter and 30 minutes in the plane
- Enjoy a memorable photo of the flight from the day
- Receive a certificate of achievement to take home
Description
If you’re intrigued by the idea of flying, but are unsure of whether you prefer a plane to a helicopter, this experience will help to provide some clarity. Each machine has been created to provide a sensationally smooth ride, particularly for beginners.
The R22 helicopter provides the perfect opportunity to co-pilot. Operation of the helicopter happens through multiple controls which you will be introduced to. If you are seriously considering piloting as a career, or would like to train to become a helicopter pilot for personal reasons, this will give you some information about where to start.
The Cessna 152 has been used to teach pilots to fly for decades and is still going strong. It is durable, simple to fly, and inexpensive to operate. It may not be fancy, but most pilots have a soft spot for this reliable little trainer.
After a quick briefing, including safety checks, ground and airborne emergency drills and aircraft information, you’ll be shown how each aircraft is operated. As a co-pilot, you’ll be responsible for knowing and communicating who has control, as well as the location of other aircraft in the sky.
Once back on the ground, you’ll receive a certificate of achievement and post-flight debrief followed by the chance to ask any further questions about your experience.
