Why we love it

Enjoy the unique experience of sampling three old and rare Scotch single malt whiskies, from the extraordinary collection at London’s 5-star Capital Hotel. Personally handpicked by Cesar Da Silva, the bar’s dedicated whisky sommelier, the drams on offer have been specially selected for being truly rare and collectable single malts; from the long-gone Ardberg Supernova, to the Ben Nevis 43 year old of which only 150 bottles have ever been produced, and the Strathisla 1965.

What's Included?

  • Exclusive Scotch malt whisky tasting for two people at the Capital Bar
  • Taste three drams of old and rare whiskies in a tasting led by Cesar Da Silva; whisky sommelier and "Keeper of the Quaich"
  • Each whisky is paired with complimenting British and French cheeses

Exclusive to TRULY

  • Take home a complimentary Glencairn whisky glass each, considered the ‘definitive glass for whisky’

Description

The 5-star Capital Bar in Knightsbridge is home to one of the most impressive whisky collections in London. Sample the very best of their selection, with this old and rare whisky tasting gift.

The Capital Bar is one of the only venues to offer whisky tasting in London, and is the ideal location for a whisky aficionado to indulge in an exclusive journey through the very best in Scotch single malt whisky. Based within the renowned Capital Hotel, the sophisticated location lends itself perfectly to match the understated luxury of the whisky on offer.

Your whisky tasting experience will be led by Cesar Da Silva, bar manager at The Capital, who holds the prestigious accolade of being the youngest ever UK Keeper of the Quaich (an elite association of whisky sommeliers). This whisky tasting experience reflects his expert knowledge, taste and passion for the finest whiskies. Using his years of experience, Cesar has hand-picked three rare whiskies from The Capital Bar's extensive collection for you to enjoy.

The first whisky on offer for your tasting pleasure is the Strathisla 1965. Selected for its long history and distinct flavour. It has been selected by Cesar as it showcases just how well a single malt can age, as well as holding the distinct tasting notes which are unique to the small but highly respected Strathisla distillery; the oldest continuously operating distillery in Scotland.

Also on offer is the Ben Nevis 43 year old. This is a special bottling of Ben Nevis done for The Whisky Fair as part of their Old & Rare Platinum Selection. The spirit was distilled in March 1966 and then matured for 43 years before bottling in November 2009. An impressive and well-aged whisky from the Ben Nevis Distillery, which sits at the base of the company's namesake - Scotland’s highest mountain.

The final dram in your whisky tasting experience is one of Cesar's personal favourites, the Ardberg Supernova. Selected for its unmistakable flavour (Ardbeg whisky is considered to be amongst the peatiest in the world), the Supernova is the most pitted Ardberg cask, and delivers a taste sensation like no other. The Ardbeg distillery first opened its doors in 1798, from the small remote Scottish island of Islay, and save for two brief periods at the tail end of the 20th century, has been distilling the finest whiskies ever since.

Cesar and his experienced team will be on hand to make sure this an event to remember. After discussion into the unique history of each whisky and why they have been selected, Cesar will allow you to enjoy the flavours at your own leisure. By far and away the most distinguished whisky tasting experience in London, an afternoon or evening at The Capital is the perfect whisky gift for the more discerning whisky connoisseur.
