Description
For over 100 years, the illustrious Ladurée name has been synonymous with worldwide prestige and pastry innovation, creating delectable treats using a blend of fine flavours and quality ingredients.
The history of the Parisian tea room holds close links to the Ladurée family, beginning in 1862 when Louis Ladurée founded a bakery at Paris’s 16 rue Royale. When a fire broke out at the bakery, Jules Cheret, the famed fin de siècle painter and poster artist, was presented the opportunity to transform Ladurée into the beguiling pastry shop that lives on today.
Ladurée’s rise to fame came in 1930 when Pierre Desfontaines, grandson of Louis Ladurée, had the original idea of the double-decker macaron, taking two macaron shells and joining them with a creamy ganache filling, a creation which is now inextricably linked to their name.
Ladurée's Parisian-style café and patisserie in Covent Garden is in-keeping with Ladurée’s classic French style. The tea salon houses two beautiful rooms, decorated with pastel shades, plush velvet furnishings and antique paintings.
Start proceedings with a 375ml bottle of Ladurée’s signature champagne, followed by a classic finger sandwich selection, presented on a traditional silver-tiered stand with delectable mini artisan viennoiseries and pastries of your choice. Over a spot of tea, coffee or hot chocolate you'll enjoy Ladurée's famed macarons. Select your bijou treats from a vast array of melt-in-the-mouth flavours and colours. Celebrate the occasion in the quaint setting of Ladurée’s snug tearooms or outside on the piazza-facing terrace and toast to a quintessentially English, and Parisian inspired, Afternoon Tea.
