Private Wine Tour and Tasting by Woodchurch Wine Vineyard

Masterminded by wine lovers, Graham and Donna Barbour, the Woodchurch Wine Estate has rapidly proved its worth. The couple bought the South-facing plot at auction in 2009 planting the first Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier clones in 2010. As with many producers, Graham was clear that site selection was critical and their meticulous preparation was immediately rewarded by their first harvest in 2012.

Graham has always lived in Kent and, leaving a successful career in publishing, his ambition was to produce wine that was completely representative of the county – a wine that “tasted of Kent”. His wife Donna worked in the United States for some time and was initially keen for them to move the family and set up a vineyard over there, but ultimately decided against the idea.

Graham and Donna tend to the vineyard themselves and are very modest about the two awards under their belt, putting it down to location – the perfect blend of geography and climate. Throughout your private wine tour and tasting, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about still and sparkling wine production – from where the grapes come from, to how they are caged and riddled by hand. You’ll then have the opportunity to taste a variety of Woodchurch wines, before choosing a bottle to take with you to drink at home.

Woodchurch Wine Estate, established in 2009 by Graham and Donna Barbour, is located in Kent. The vineyard, planted in 2010 with 10,000 vines, benefits from an ideal microclimate 20 metres above sea level.

Woodchurch released its first vintage in 2015 and now produces a range of award-winning still and sparkling wines. Known for its meticulous vine management and state-of-the-art winery, Woodchurch has earned accolades for its high-quality wines. Visitors are welcome year-round, with the shop and restaurant open from Thursday to Sunday.
