The beauty of speciality coffee is that it’s usually roasted in small stores or factories, using traditional methods and technology. Whereas commercial coffee tends to be sold ready-ground, speciality coffee appears as whole beans and needs to be ground before it is brewed. Discover the world of speciality coffee, learning how to create the perfect brew.
So much more than a beverage in a cup, the coffee movement has become an artisanal experience. There's a sensory exploration that occurs when education of this steaming brew is expanded to beyond the usual latte or cappuccino. An introduction to speciality coffee accelerates the bean lover to a level of connoisseurship, as he discovers unique characteristics that result from varying factors - growing and cultivation methods, processing and roasting. Working with Union Brew Lab, you'll learn how to extract the best out of fresh beans in a fun and interactive 90-minute session. The Introduction to Speciality Coffee is a hands-on coffee making and tasting experience that explores what makes speciality coffee special. You’ll have the opportunity to try your hand at pulling your own espresso and making a barista style pour-over, before a series of comparative tastings give real context to various beans. You’ll discover the art of the speciality roaster; various processing methods and how they can affect flavour, as well as which regions produce distinct and unique coffees. You’ll also receive a complimentary 200g bag of Union Hand-Roasted coffee to take home and enjoy.
