Description
Not all Savile Row tailors are cut from the same cloth. Ray Stowers spent nearly a quarter of a century as the Bespoke Manager of Gieves & Hawkes, before co-founding Stowers London with his son Chris in 2007. Stowers have cut clothes for royalty, heads of state, and athletes from around the world.
Unhappy with mass-market suiting, Stowers London set about revolutionizing Savile Row, offering accessible made-in-Britain tailoring that is 100% unique to each client. No other tailor on The Row provides a more personal service or produces more unique garments – whether it be a crocodile leather jacket or 22-carat gold pinstripe – their niche is in giving clients exactly what they want; “the principle of our business,” says Ray, “is that we manage people’s wardrobes.”
At your initial consultation, enjoy a complimentary drink; Stowers London are the only tailors on Savile Row with a fully-stocked bar. This is the time to discuss your first ideas, what your suit will be used for, and how it will fit with your lifestyle with your personal tailoring consultant. From initial consultation to delivery of your suit, your Tailoring Consultant will advise you through the process.
After the discussion, you’ll be able to select cloths from over 10,000 fabrics, while your tailoring consultant advises you on the cut, style and design of the suit. Personalise your suit with fine accents on the pockets, belt loops, buttons and linings, to create a distinctly individual garment.
Your tailoring consultant will then take your body measurements to ensure your suit is tailored to your posture, movements and styling preferences, and from this your personal pattern will be made.
As a TRULY guest, you’ll also receive a complimentary bespoke shirt alongside your suit. Stowers has thousands of cloths to choose from and the shirt will be designed and fitted at the initial appointment. Exactly like your suit, the shirt will be tailored to your bespoke measurements, full individual style and design preferences.
Stowers London provides on-site cutters utilising the finest British fabrics from famed merchants such as Scabal, Dormeuil and Fox Brothers, most of whom Ray has successfully done business with for over three decades.
When you return for a first fitting and future consultations, the garment will be gradually built around you. During these stages, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss and develop your suit further.
“The key,” says Ray, “is trust and understanding.” The open door policy at the showroom reflects this, and aims to build a bespoke service tailored around each individual client.
