Three Night Norwegian Retreat At Hotel Juvet

Located near the West Norwejian Fjords, the landscape hotel, Juvet, showcases the natural beauty which surrounds it rather than focussing on its own architecture. Designed by Oslo-based firm Jensen & Skodvin, the minimalist buildings made of pine and glass were carefully designed to ensure no changes were made to the terrain in accommodating the hotel.

With just ten rooms detached from each other, and all designed slightly differently depending on how the surrounding trees are positioned, guests are far enough away from each other to be completely private and enjoy unique views of the landscape. The minimalist interiors of the cabins which feature bare timber walls and simple decor, are designed in such a way as not to distract from the nature outside. Only the bathrooms, painted a vivid yellow, break from the pared back look and feel.

Savour farmhouse-style meals, from naturally sourced ingredients and served in the lovingly restored old barn, while the dark concrete spa area is carved into the land by the river and features an outdoor hot tub, steam room, and a relaxation area with open fireplace, offering tranquility like none other.

Depending on the seasons, Juvet offers a number of excursions. When not gazing at the breathtaking views, guests can take their pick of activities in both winter and summer. In March and April there are nearby ski resorts and excellent off-piste and ski-touring opportunities. In summer, guests can go trekking on trails through pine and birch forests or rafting, zip-wiring or canyoning on the beautiful Valldøla river that runs in a gorge beneath the rooms. Alternatively, complete relaxation, taking in a deep breath of mountain air and enjoying the natural surrounds.

Suggested Itinerary:

• Day one: Arrive at Ålesund Airport and transfer to Juvet Landscape Hotel.
• Day two: Book yoga session, sauna and a relaxing massage, take advantage of the spa facilities in the afternoon.
• Day three: Choose an activity to experience Valldal and the surrounding areas, such as hiking, canyoning, kayaking or rafting.
• Day four: Check-out of hotel Juvet and transfer to Ålesund Airport
