“The food is - and this is a very technical term - really, really good” Jay Rayner, The Observer

Description

L'Anima means ‘the soul' in Italian. The restaurant, designed by famed architect Claudio Silvestrin, is an open and inviting space, allowing the emotional aspects of the dining experience to come to the fore. The picture glass windows, light leathers and limestone flows easily with the changing of the seasons.

Sardinian-born Head Chef Antonio Favuzzi, known as Lello, has previously worked as Sous Chef at successful Mediterranean restaurant St Alban, as well as Franco's on Jermyn Street and The Wolseley.

Favuzzi’s menu is rooted in Italian tradition, and is beautifully presented in simple dishes with exceptional taste. The focus is on the quality of the ingredients and clarity of flavour, rather than culinary fireworks. Ingredients are sourced from around Britain and Italy, with influences from Calabria, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia.

The wine list at L’Anima won the title of ‘Italian Wine Restaurant of the Year’ at the Drinking Out Excellence Awards in 2011, and showcases the true diversity of Italian wines. L’Anima’s talented sommelier has devised an extensive offering featuring familiar favourites from Piemonte and Toscana to wines from the lesser known regions of Calabria, Lombardia and Emilia Romana. In the same vain as its cuisine, the restaurant's wine list follows the kitchen's philosophy for supporting small, environmentally committed producers. If cocktails are more your thing, you will not be disappointed by their signature tipples. We recommend the decadent Snowden Street.

Upgrade to the chef's seven-course platinum menu to make the occasion extra special. Indulge with an appetiser of 'Raw Tuna, Avocado and Mango with Mottra Sterlet Caviar' and, for the sweet-toothed, finish your meal with a refreshing sorbet.

Reviews

  • Ruby wedding celebratory gift

Excellent and attentive service and superb food!

    Great service and fabulous food

Great evening but could of handled our welcome better to explain the evening. It would of been nice to have had a menu of what we were going to eat especially as one course we had to ask for an explanation. The biscuits served on a happy anniversary plate was a lovely touch. These minor points would of made the difference between 4 and 5 star rating.

  • Magic dinner at L'Anima!!

It was truly a wonderful evening thanks to Antonio and his crew. We can't wait until next time.
