Exclusive to TRULY

  • This experience is unique to Truly guests

Description

Less than a century old and with only a handful of distilleries, Japanese whisky has moved quickly in developing its own unique style. The chameleons of distillation, Japanese whisky has been met with growing acclaim in recent years. Offering light and precise, to smoky and fat, its malts and blends offer unique flavours.

A high-end Japanese restaurant in the heart of Belgravia, Kouzu is an impressive venue founded by Chef Kyoichi Kai of Zuma and Arts Club fame. Kouzu blends sought after Japanese and European flavours to create beautifully presented sashimi and sushi, alongside self-defined "new stream" dishes such as salmon with julienne apple & cucumber and foie gras with blue cheese & teriyaki sauce.

Kouzu is housed in an historical period mansion, opposite the famous The Goring Hotel, and is a modern and glamorous space that features a floating mezzanine and an omakase sushi bar. Serving up sushi and sashimi is Chef Xia Jia Tian, UK winner of the ‘Global Sushi Challenge’ 2015, while Kouzu’s sommelier Miguel Hernandez won the ‘Sake Sommelier of the Year’ 2015.

With this exclusive-to-Truly tasting flight, Chef Xia’s classic sushi and sashimi is perfectly paired with three of Kouzu’s premium Japanese whiskies. Their collection boasts ten of the best Japanese whiskies on the market, including varieties from stalwarts Nikka and Suntory, but also the whiskies of talented emerging distilleries, such as Ichiro.
