Since opening in 2016, The Distillery on Portobello Road has more than made a name for itself among gin-lovers in London and around the world.After announcing your arrival to the shopkeeper, you’ll be directed downstairs to the History Room, where your gin instructor will welcome you with a delicious Tom Collins..Next, the instructor will introduce you to the 400L copper pot still known affectionately as King Henry and to the smaller still, Copernicus the Fourth. This is when you’ll learn about the gin production process and the many rules and regulations that producers must abide by.That done, you’ll have the chance to smell and taste some of the many botanicals used in the gin-making process. You might recognise some of those botanicals from the worlds of confectionary, cuisine, and perfumery, while others may be a little more mysterious to you. After selecting a few botanicals, your instructor will help you blend them to create your very own personal bottle of gin before you enjoy one last gin-based cocktail. You’ll also receive a bottle of The Distillery’s personal blend, which went on to become Portobello Road Gin.Whether you’re a gin-lover or it’s the favourite tipple of a friend or family member, the three-hour Ginstitute Experience for one is a not-to-be-missed experience.
