Cycling in Exmoor is a unique experience. The moorland is a spectacular contrast of gently rolling hills and tawny heather, coal-black coastline and rock-strewn valleys. Ride some of the most expansive and other-worldly cycling routes with professional instructor and Exmoor native, Rob Wakefield.

Your full-day private ride will be planned, and specially tailored by Rob, who is an accredited Level 3 Association of British Cycling Coach. With Rob's help, you'll enjoy a seamless experience; with stunning views, the quietest roads, and the best climbs around. Your ride will incorporate at least two of the UK's 100 Greatest Climbs, such as famous Dunkery Beacon, Challacombe or Porlock; all featured in the Top 10.

As a professional cyclist who knows the area, Rob’s guidance is invaluable. Exmoor’s moorland is not easily navigated by first-time visitors and the terrain can be unforgiving. Rob's presence guarantees a smooth and hitch-free day of cycling. Your ride will last approximately eight hours, and cover a distance of between 80-100 miles. Your day will include pick up and drop off by Rob, a refreshing 30-minute break for a drink and a cake, an hour’s lunch in a picturesque setting, and qualified technical support throughout.

Unwind in the evenings with two nights stay at Kentisbury Grange Hotel. Kentisbury Grange is an elegantly restored Victorian manor house located in its own landscaped grounds, on the edge of Exmoor National Park. This boutique hotel offers quintessential English charm and all the luxuries of modern living; it is the perfect place to relax after a day spent pedaling.

  • After a hearty breakfast, Rob will pick you up from the hotel for your day's ride
  • The eight-hour ride will be tailored to your preferences. A typical ride spans 80-100 miles, with a 30-minute morning break, an hour for lunch, and at least two UK Top 100 Climbs
  • Return to Kentisbury Grange, relax with a drink and settle in for the evening
  • Wake up, enjoy breakfast, and check-out

Alternative group sizes can be priced on request. The price of this experience is based upon two people sharing a room; but separate rooms can be priced on request.

Guests need to bring their own road-worthy bike and helmet.

Your guided cycling route is fully bespoke, and will be tailored to any preferences and requests you have.

Weather: Guests should come prepared for all weather. However, in the case of snow/ice, or extreme wind, Rob may deem cycling unsafe. This can normally be forecast three days out, in which case the entire experience can be re-arranged for alternative dates without charge. If the ride needs to be unexpectedly called off during the experience, then the remaining cycling component of the package can be re-arranged without charge.

Guests are responsible for their own travel insurance. Propello and TRULY do not provide insurance of any kind. Propello also requires all guests to have liability insurance and legal assistance to at least British Cycling Ride Membership level or equivalent.

Each guest acknowledges that they ride at their own risk, and has no knowledge of any medical condition, physical or mental, which could affect their ability to take part in the ride.

All bookings are subject to availability. We recommend booking at least 8 weeks in advance to guarantee desired dates.
