The marquise de Preignes and Baron Empain designed Château Bouffémont, a breathtaking venue just outside Paris, in the 1850s. Renowned pâtissier-chocolatier, Gilles Marchal, will teach you the mysteries of chocolate making in this extensive masterclass held in the Château’s opulent kitchens.
A palatial countryside residence erected by the Marquise of Preignes and Baron Empain, Château Bouffémont has hosted France’s aristocracy for the past two centuries. The estate covers 15 hectares of greenery and gardens, and borders the Montmorency Forest; giving you a sense of seclusion from the bustling metropolis of nearby Paris. Designed for first-class comfort, every detail reflects the spirit of the setting. With ten luxurious suites, five grand reception halls and a full house staff, the Château is the ideal place for an intimate vacation, and to learn the craft of a chocolatier. Your guide for this masterclass is noted pâtissier-chocolatier Gilles Marchal. Taking time away from his Parisian boutique, Chef Marchall will demonstrate how to make chocolate truffles, shortbreads, mousse, muffins and more. If your culinary interests lie elsewhere, there is the option of exchanging the chocolate masterclass for a private masterclass with the Château’s Executive Chef. Classes on offer include a variety of cooking subjects, including historical recipes, or luxury ingredients.
