Description
London-based independent wine merchant, Humble Grape have been seeking out hand-crafted, biodynamic, and organic wines from sustainable and relatively unknown vineyards, since 2009. All their wines are imported directly from winemakers who share a deep passion for their craft and who produce mainly biodynamic and organic wines from sustainable vineyards. Rather than hone in on the specifics, Humble Grape prides itself on relating to wine through the stories of its producers, with staff regaling tales of honey badgers roaming the vineyards or wild pigs trying to eat the grapes before they are harvested.
Now, Humble Grape have teamed up with Master of Wine, Tim Hanni who has created a unique “and scarily accurate” way of finding wines guests will love. Having conducted over twenty-five years of research with geneticists, neurologists, doctors, chefs, and anybody who has crossed his path, Tim has devised a series of questions designed to discern one’s favourite tastes and flavours, likes and dislikes, to determine wine preferences based on personal, psychological and physiological traits.
Vino-typing categorises guest’s tastes into one of four categories: Sweet, Hypersensitive, Sensitive and Tolerant. After tasting a flight of five premium wines, guests are presented with iPad to 'rate' the wines, based on their likes and dislikes of the wines tasted - the results of which place each guest in their corresponding vinotype. All the wines available have a coloured sticker corresponding to a type so that navigating Humble Grape’s extensive wine range is made simple.
We also recommend
- Purchase a bottle to take home from the Humble Grape shop
- If visiting Fleet Street, enjoy a post-tasting gin cocktail at Bride Lane’s “gin Mecca”, City of London Distillery
- If visiting Battersea, make reservations for dinner at Clapham Old Town’s critically-acclaimed restaurant, The Dairy
